Hybrid Incentives | Car Sales Explained
Buying and leasing a new car or SUV often involves research – you want to make sure the vehicle fits your needs, budget and style. At Alfa Romeo of Seattle, we strive to be your one-stop-shopping experience with product model information and details about the sales process.
Let’s talk: hybrid incentives – tax credit and lease rebate
When it comes to buying cars, tax credits have recently been associated with new and used electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell vehicles. A tax credit is an amount you subtract from the tax you owe to the IRS. It is not a discount to the overall cost of the vehicle. A lease rebate or lease cash is an amount offered by the leasing company to lower the selling price, the capitalized cost, of the vehicle.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV allows drivers to save money at the gas pump by charging at home. The Tonale PHEV has a Best-in-Class 33-mile all-electric range from a full charge allowing prospective drivers additional savings during the sales process. The 2025 Model Year (25MY) Tonale is available as both PHEV and internal combustion engine (ICE).
Is the Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV eligible for hybrid incentives?
Yes! Select lessees of the Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV may be eligible for up to a $7,500 incentive through a Stellantis Preferred Lender factored into their lease application.* This lease rebate is included during the time of sale and does not require the lessee to submit or keep any special records.
For a federal tax credit, the Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV almost qualifies – though we’re sure you’ll agree it’s for a good reason. If you personally qualify, here are the vehicle qualifications from the IRS:
✔️ The Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV has a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery (more than double the required 7-kilowatt hours)
✔️ Depending on trim, the Tonale PHEV has a gross weight between 4,960 and 5,335 lbs (a fraction from the maximum 14,000 pounds)
❌ The final assembly point for all Alfa Romeo models is in Italy (Pomigliano and Cassino) and the battery components are not produced in the United States. You can take the Alfa Romeo out of Italy, but you can’t take the Italy out of an Alfa Romeo.

* When financed through a Stellantis Preferred Lender, not all buyers will qualify. This incentive is offered by a third party as a cap cost reduction and subject to change without notice. Lessees cannot claim tax credit on personal tax return.
